"We are here in the struggle showing the revolution," Richard Escobar says as he points out the different "missions" operating in Jose Felix Ribas.

A well-known local community leader and a firm supporter of Mr Chavez's Bolivarian revolution, he says his aim is to get residents to play a role in the development of the community.

"When the revolution is firmly consolidated I will be able to do other things. I would like to go back to teaching small children basketball," he says.
