In pictures: Brazil's orange juice
Down on the farm

Brazil is the biggest producer of orange juice in the world, and this is where it all begins - on big farms like this.

The Fazenda Santa Maria is in Analandia, deep in the interior of Sao Paulo state. It has 300,000 orange trees spread across 560 hectares of cultivated land.

It is one of 40 estates in the region owned by Cutrale, the leading orange juice company. It is a relatively new farm and this is its first commercial harvest.
