Photo journal: Living with HIV/Aids in Haiti

Seven years ago, Amicia, 46, from the slum area of Carrefour in Port-au-Prince, bought a coffin. Having learnt that she was HIV-positive, she was convinced that she was going to die from Aids. But the test that turned out to be positive back in 1999 was not a death sentence. Life-saving medicine combined with a monthly ration of nutritious food supplement from WFP has helped Amicia regain her strength and lead a productive life.
