Lost seeds

Rains supposed to start in November have now come to some parts and a harvest is expected in June.

But this is too late for many farmers in central Tanzania, who have lost all their seeds during previous planting attempts.

I have been badly affected; my seeds did not grow, says Saidi Omari, a farmer from Munkhola village who has planted three times in vain.

Nonetheless the late rains are a relief, giving livestock keepers hope that those animals left will recover.
