The families battle to make a living through farm labour or cooking and cleaning jobs.

Frazer, who took this picture, lives with 15 of his relatives in a four-room township house. His sister’s R500-a-month salary (£40) provides for the family. His mother lost her job after falling ill. He has not seen his father for five years.
