After the arrests, the farm was divided up and houses built on the new sites. Recently, the Liliesleaf trust has bought a group of adjoining properties in its efforts to restore the area to how it was in 1963.
A newer building that was built behind the main house has recently been demolished. The trust has identified this part of the old farm as the most likely location for the pistol that Nelson Mandela recalls having buried while living there. The search is continuing.
