The main house today looks much as it did 43 years ago, when it was owned by the ANC and officially occupied by Arthur Goldreich and his family.

The house effectively became the headquarters of the ANC's armed wing. ANC leaders including Walter Sisulu, Govan Mbeki father of current South African President Thabo Mbeki and Ahmed Kathrada were regular clandestine visitors before being arrested in 1963 and tried for treason.
