Photojournal: Chad urban migrant's story
Village chief

One of Omar's first meetings is with the village chief, Gombo Dana Moirhal – his own older brother.

Gombo says Tchoffal should have 670 people, but years of drought have pushed many away in search of a better life.

"The drought has been terrible, it's been a disaster for us.

"There's so little rain, all our cattle are dying. The lack of water means people cannot irrigate their fields - there is no way for people to earn a living here. I don't blame them for wanting to leave."
