In a small valley behind his house, Omar grows lettuce, aubergine, peppers and cucumbers. He can earn up to 150,000 CFA ($290) with each harvest, and he harvests every 45 days.
"It's much easier to grow my vegetables here, as there are no water shortages," he says. "My clients know me now, so sometimes they even come direct to my field to buy from me."
Omar is pleased he moved to N'Djamena but life is not without problems.
His mud-brick home has no running water or electricity.
