Photojournal: Burden of malaria

Malaria is endemic in most of Uganda, but basic preventive gear like bed nets is beyond the reach of many, as photographer Jake Price found out on a visit to northern areas badly affected by the long years of war with rebels.

Here on Soroti's main streets, nets are available for 6,000 shillings - about $4.

But that's too high for many people, when an average daily wage of 4,000 sh for those lucky enough to have work may support an extended family of 10.
