This is the first of two photos from a fundraising event held in Robertson Park in Renfrew during WWI.

David Douglas, from Denmark, sent in the snaps.

He said: "According to my grandmother, who took part as a child, the man with the arm in a sling had got the butcher to daub it with blood.

"This resulted in him being fussed over by lots of women thinking he was a true casualty of war."
