Poppy fields are all too common in Dai Kundi province and harvesting them is a family affair.

Agriculture is the primary source of income and poppy cultivation brings in more than triple what the farmer would make selling legal crops such as wheat.

Eliminating poppy without destroying these communities continues to be a serious challenge for both the Afghan government and the international community.
