Introduction

Niroshani Sandmali lives in the remote town of Hambantota on Sri Lanka's southern coast. Some 5,000 people are estimated to have died in the area when the tsunami struck Sri Lanka on 26 December.

Nearly 30,000 people have been left homeless. Her house was badly damaged, but is still standing.
