In pictures: Saris and temples

Ms Boulanger lectured in France and the US on Dravidian India and was an expert on saris, travelling the length and breadth of the country to take photos - such as this one taken in West Bengal - and carry out research. Her depth of knowledge and natural delivery endeared her to audiences. She spoke French, English and Hindi and could read, write and speak Tamil to a high standard.
