Slaughter

Animals are sacrificed to remember the Prophet Ibrahim's obedience to God.

The bull pictured has been tripped up by helpers who tied a rope around his feet. They sat on the animal to hold him down but he still struggled.

Most sacrifices are carried out by butchers, who cut the animal's throat in a sawing motion. The knife is so sharp the head is severed almost completely.
