For more than 50 years tens of thousands of Kashmiris living in villages such as these have been under the shadow of violence.
Just a few miles from the ceasefire line, the villages are literally on the frontline of the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan.
Many families here are divided right down the middle. But until now, they have had no opportunity to cross to the other side.
