In pictures: Bangladeshi children relish the gift of sight
Seeing is believing

Recent research has revealed that there are around 40,000 blind children in Bangladesh, with cataracts being the leading cause.

More than 12,000 children are needlessly blind because their families do not realise that surgery might be able to reverse blindness or because they cannot afford it. As part of its "Big Eye Opener" campaign, Sight Savers International says it will treat around 10,000 children in Bangladesh.
