Khaled is frequently lifted into the air by fellow activists.

"When I am up in the air chanting slogans I feel I have a message and that I am responsible for delivering it to both protesters and passers-by.

"There isn't much optimism here, but it is no small thing that people are coming out so directly with slogans against the president."

Khaled is often highly visible at protests: "My mum looks at the newspaper front pages to find out my news," he jokes.
