Marching for the first time

The numbers quickly grow to about 200 and the protesters begin to march along the street.

"Everybody was surprised by the unprecedented and complete absence of riot forces.

"We are usually cordoned off by hundreds of police, but this time we finally got to march freely down the streets.

"This meant so much because we were able to interact with people on the streets. They were encouraged to join the demo. Usually they are intimidated by the police," says Khaled afterwards.
