Photo journal: Iraqi actress's day

The actress Maysalun Qamar, usually called Mays, is well known in Iraq for her roles in television series and stage plays. Photographer Johan Spanner spent 7 June 2005 with her, as part of the BBC News Website's One Day in Iraq coverage.

Mays is 29 and lives in Baghdad's middle-class Mansour district.

Here she chats to her mother and a friend as she prepares to leave for a day rehearsing two different plays due to premiere shortly at Baghdad's National Theatre.
