In pictures: An Iranian bathhouse

This is another pool in the middle of the main cloakhall.

Hamid's father remembers a ritual where bridegrooms would visit the bathhouse on their wedding nights accompanied by relatives.

Once in the bath, candles would be lit and put on a small tray floating in the water.

People accompanying the bride would then arrive, place money on the floating tray and pass it back to the bridegroom as part of the ritual.
