In pictures: An Iranian bathhouse

Sadly, some parts of the bathhouse have fallen into disrepair. This part was the main pool, which is no longer used after showers were installed.

Before Iran's Islamic Revolution, the bathhouse was managed by the descendants of Khan, followers of the Sheikhi sect of Shia Islam.

They looked after the bath, but after they died out management passed to the revolutionary forces.

Hamid's father says they did not care as much about the bath although he did his best in its day to day running.
