Though Jean-Bertrand Aristide is in exile far away, in the narrow streets of the Belair slum, he is still president.

A year after his overthrow, about 1,000 youths march, hemmed in by UN peacekeepers, to show the world that Mr Aristide's Lavalas party "is still here" and demand his return. Despite the peacekeepers, the march ends violently with police firing shots. After the smoke clears, a man lies dead.
