Photo journal: Palm wine tapper

Nearly everything I need to collect the wine comes from the palm tree itself.

I have made these funnels out of palm leaves. I put them into the top of a plastic bottle which I attach to the tree.

I make a hole in the tree and the palm wines drips into the bottle.

I add a special bark called blundi to ferment the wine and stop it going off.

Wasps can be a big problem, as they love the sweet wine but they've never stung me.
