Exhausted, and with little in their stomachs, hundreds and sometimes thousands of children come to the Arc each evening.

When the fighting is at its fiercest, the Arc has accommodated as many as 6,000 children with many more in Gulu itself.

It only takes one abduction to send thousands of children fleeing. The LRA's ability to spread fear is its most effective asset.
