Eneresi Amini has oral thrush and cannot speak without pain. She has never taken an HIV test but her symptoms make the test all but superfluous.

Housebound on the outskirts of Njoho, Eneresi is suffering her second bout of tuberculosis in eight months.

Eneresi’s husband divorced her soon after she contracted the disease and, today, she relies on World Food Programme food aid.

One week after this picture was taken, Eneresi passed away.
