With Malawi’s worst harvest in a decade undermining many families' ability to support HIV/Aids sufferers, Sister Josephine of the Nsanama Convent has convinced local chiefs to donate plots of land so families can grow their own food.

“We want to offer an alternative to the fatalism that sets in when people are diagnosed as HIV positive.

"Too often, villagers have anger in their hearts and voluntarily destroy their own and other people’s lives by behaving as if nothing has changed.”
