Vast numbers of German soldiers became trapped and isolated by co-ordinated Allied movements, forcing a partial retreat.

More than two months after D-Day, the Allies finally crossed the Seine and liberated Paris, where General Charles de Gaulle marched triumphantly down the Champs Elysees.

The war was not over, but some of Hitlerís lieutenants were warning him it soon would be. It was the beginning of the end.
