"This is the first time I've played - literally my first hits with a conker.

"I lost but only on points. After five minutes of playing we take nine hits each and whoever contacts the most wins. I lost by one point.

"There is a great atmosphere, it's really well organised. I'm off to see how the rest of my family is doing."
