The Fitzpatricks say they are "lucky" to have two occupational pensions, but say they "don't live the high life" while at home.
They plan to sell their house when they fully retire, and move into something smaller.
"There should still be something left for the children, but we see this house as our pension money," says Christine.
Their independent streak overflows into their personal finances. "Mike has a secret slush fund I supposedly donít know about, but mine's common knowledge."
