Settlers of the Andamans

Mainland settlers brought to the Andaman Islands were given land by the government. But many more came on their own and settled on government-owned forest areas. Thousands of such settlers have been living on forest lands for nearly 30 years and are even registered as voters. Recently they have received eviction notices from the government but they are determined to fight on.
