Fishermen of the Andermans

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands stretch between the southern tip of Burma and the northern tip of Indonesia but they belong to India. The islands were once inhabited by about a dozen indigenous tribal groups. But since independence, the Indian government brought settlers from the mainland - mostly Bengali and Tamil fishermen and farmers. The indigenous population are now facing near extinction.
