"The hardest thing with the food is that, in Iran, things don't last as long as they do everywhere else. In California, I can get my vegetables guaranteed for the whole year.

"Lots of things here are seasonal, so there's a lot of improvisation. Here I would have to go to about 15 different markets just to find exactly what I want."
