This is one of the school prefects checking that all the pupils are behaving appropriately.

It is common in Uganda for both teachers and prefects to carry a stick to maintain order in and around the school.

As many of the children are orphans they struggle to pay the school fees.

To attend NJ School for an entire year costs just $45 but even this is too much for many families.
