Nobel prize

Allan Cormack and UK researcher Godfrey Hounsfield shared the 1979 Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology for their joint invention of the Computed Axial Tomography (CAT) scanner.

Based on Mr Cormack’s 1957 research, the scanner made it possible to take three-dimensional X-rays of the human body to detect diseased tissue.
