The scars of the long and bitter war are everywhere.

This tank has been lying in the middle of a residential district for 14 years and has become a children’s plaything.

Although there are hundreds of checkpoints across Mogadishu, the original division still remains between the north and the south.

The north is much more dangerous and only a few vehicles are allowed to cross between the two parts.
