"The first things to go were the phone lines, and then the water supply. Twenty or 30 minutes later, mobile phones became jammed. After the tower came down, the sky went black and the power went. It was like peeling back layers of evolution. I felt I was very lucky the building I was in was still standing because it had shook so heavily and because of the blast that hit the windows. It was like a hell-storm."
