"After the first and then the second tower fell, something you never heard or were told about on the news is this very strange chirping sound - as if there were thousands of insects all over Ground Zero. I couldn't figure this out until I realised these were the emergency locator beacons of all the firemen and emergency teams. They were like electronic crickets everywhere in otherwise silence."
