Photo Journal: Israeli doctor in the West Bank

In the bloody Middle East conflict, Israelis and Palestinians are still finding ways to have direct, personal contacts that help them cope.

Professor Zvi Bentwich is an internationally eminent immunologist and the founder of Israel's first and largest Aids clinic. As a reserve air force surgeon he saw active duty in the 1967 and 1973 wars and in Lebanon. Now retired, he spends his weekends in the West Bank and Gaza working for Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), an Israeli humanitarian organisation.
