Photo Journal: Baghdad family

This is my mother preparing lunch and supper for Tarik and his two boys. He also has three daughters, but they live with their mother who is divorced from him.

It is one day before Ramadan and Shaima and her children are visiting her parents in another part of Baghdad.

Um Tarik cooks chicken stew and rice for lunch. Tarik will eat the meat and the boys will have the rice with salt.

Supper is a small amount of minced lamb kofta with tomatoes, chickpeas and onion.
