Rural Communities
Rural Communities

The 21st century country dweller is still probably white and more likely to be middle-aged or older.

But he/she is now less likely to have a rural background and may not work in the countryside.

Age patterns are changing: largest age group is now 35-39 instead of 50-54, and only among 16-24-year-olds are more moving from country to town than vice-versa.

The few rural ethnic minority groups live mainly in central and South East England.
