Temperate South America

Recommended Immunisations:
Malaria: Only risk in northern rural areas of Argentina close to Bolivia and Paraguay.
Hepatitis A or immune globulin: Recommended for travel to this region.
Typhoid: Recommended for less developed countries in this region.
Yellow Fever: Only in Argentina, and if you are travelling outside urban areas there.
Hepatitis B: For unprotected infants and children up to age 12.
Other Health Hazards:
Traveller's diarrhoea: Wash hands often, drink only bottled or boiled water, or canned drink, and eat only thoroughly cooked food or fruits.
Dengue Fever, filariasis, leishmaniasis: Carried by insects in this region. Use repellents, stay within screens when practical, wear long-sleeved shirts and trousers.
Schistosomiasis: Parasitic infection found in fresh water. Do not swim in fresh water other than well-maintained swimming pools.
Rabies: Do not handle animals.
