Central America

Recommended Immunisations:
Malaria: Risk exists in some parts of Mexico and central America
Yellow fever: A vaccination certificate may be required for entry to some of these countries if you are coming from tropical South America or sub-Saharan Africa. However, it is only recommended for travellers to Panama going outside major cities.
Hepatitis B: This may be recommended if you are staying longer than six months, and for children.
Typhoid: Recommended for developing countries in this region.
Other Health Hazards:
Traveller's diarrhoea: Wash hands often, drink only bottled or boiled water, or canned drink, and eat only thoroughly cooked food or fruits.
Dengue Fever, filariasis, leishmaniasis, onchocercerciasis:  Carried by insects in this region. Use repellents, stay within screens when practical, wear long-sleeved shirts and trousers.
Rabies / Plague: Do not handle animals.
