| Environment, food and rural affairs - Peter Ainsworth
Mr Ainsworth returned to the shadow cabinet in 2005 after a three-year absence. He stood down in 2002 for family reasons. He became an MP in 1992 after a career as a banker and soon became parliamentary aide to ministers Jonathan Aitken and Virginia Bottomley. Later, he was a government whip and in opposition became shadow culture secretary. He has returned under David Cameron to the environment post he held under Iain Duncan Smith.
