The August bank holiday rock event, spread across two venues, has its roots in the National Jazz and Blues Festival, first held in Richmond in 1961. These days it focuses on rock and, on occasion, rap. The crowd are famously picky, and there is a long tradition of throwing bottles of urine at unpopular acts. 50 Cent and Good Charlotte are two unlucky recipients of this honour.
