Five men have been found guilty of plotting to kill hundreds in an al-Qaeda-linked bomb plot. The international conspiracy included links to the 7 July 2005 London bombings. Two other men on trial at the Old Bailey were found not guilty.
The oldest of the defendants, Waheed Mahmood was a central figure in the plot. The trial heard he was one of the main people suggesting targets. Many of those involved had met at his house in Gujar Khan, Pakistan. He suggested poisoning fans at football matches, or bombing Bluewater shopping centre.
