Five men have been found guilty of plotting to kill hundreds in an al-Qaeda-linked bomb plot. The international conspiracy included links to the 7 July 2005 London bombings. Two other men on trial at the Old Bailey were found not guilty.
Amin was born in London, but moved to Pakistan when he was four and went to school in the Punjab. He returned to the UK aged 16 and began taking an interest in political causes such as Kashmir. The prosecution presented him as a facilitator, linking British activists to mujahideen groups. In 2004 he gave himself up to the Pakistani authorities but alleges he was tortured.
