Iraq violence, in figures
Since the beginning of the conflict in Iraq, 169 UK service personnel have died. British forces are mostly based in the south east of Iraq, in Basra.

Since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein British forces have conducted operations against insurgents, and have also trained and supported Iraqi security forces.
