Trafficking routes from Turkey

Turkey is the start point for two routes used to bring trafficking victims into the UK.

The first sees victims travel via northern Cyprus. They are then taken to Romania or Bulgaria before the EU and UK.

A second route goes via the Balkans, where Belgrade and Sarajevo are trafficking centres, and then on to Italy or Greece.

About 60% of cases in Turkey involve Ukrainian or Moldovan victims, reports suggest.
