Hospitals and community health unsurprisingly dominate the NHS budget.

But what the pie chart does not show is the shift in emphasis which will happen in coming years.

More money is to be invested in community services such as cottage hospitals and multi-discipline health teams as the government wants to keep people out of hospital.

It may also lead to hospital consultants carrying out more work in the community.
